Wat Balat  

Contemporary monastery and pagoda in the northeast of Battambang city and on the west bank of the Sangker River. It features beautiful decorative wood reliefs in its pediments, I am not sure of the age, but perhaps around mid to late-1900s.

Wat O Trea

Contemporary monastery and pagoda located 600m to the northwest of Wat Samrong Knong in Battambang.

Wat Phnov

A contemporary monastery and pagoda located around 1km north of Wat Samrong Knong on the east side of the Sangker River in Battambang. Wat Sopheas

Also recorded as Wat Sopheas Raingsey, it’s a contemporary monastery and pagoda that houses numerous remnants of a 7th-century pre-Angkorian temple site/s. Wat Kdang Nga

A contemporary monastery with a pagoda of the mid-1900s Battambang style and also on the monastery grounds, a stupa of that era, and a beautiful Khmer colonial-period building. Located in Kvit Village on the east side and south of the Sangker River, north of central Battambang city.

Wat Preaek Luong

Also noted as Wat Svai Chrum, is a contemporary monastery and pagoda located on the west side of the Sangker River, about 7km north of central Battambang city.

Wat Ek Rainsy

Also noted as Wat Ek Rungsey, is a contemporary monastery and pagoda located on the west bank of the Sangker River, about 8km north of central Battambang city. Wat Sdei Sampov Meas 

A contemporary monastery and a very beautiful pagoda located about 9km north of central Battambang city on the west side of the Sangker River. It was built in the Battambang style of the mid-late 1900s.

Contemporary monastery and pagoda located in Thmor Koul District, Battambang Province. Wat Phnom Toch (Mongol Borei District)

Contemporary monastery and pagoda located at the southern end of Phnom Toch in Mongol Borei District. Photos: Red Dot Tour Feb 2022 Continue up to the top of the mountain and there are several lookouts, chedi, and small shrines to wander around.

Wat Sovann Kiri (Mongkol Borei)

Wat Phnom (Mongkol Borei)

A quirky and unusual pagoda located in Ou Prasat Commune of Mongkol Borei District. Wat Russey Krok

Located just south of Mongkolborei market and the Mongkolborei river, Wat Russey Krok (or Wat Ruessei Kroak) is a beautiful pagoda of the Battambang style that originated in the early to mid-1900s.

Wat Anhchanh 

Contemporary pagoda and monastery located on the north bank of the Mongkolborei River.

Wat Luong (Mongkol Borei)

Also recorded as Wat Loung Si Sovath Ratanaram (Khmer: វត្តហ្លួងស៊ីសុវត្ថិរតនារាម). The pagoda is a little unique with its chambered entrances, although there are a few others. Unfortunately, the pagoda wasn’t open on our last visit. The 25m tall stupa was completed in 2018.

Wat Svay

A contemporary monastery and pagoda located on the west side of Sisophon.

Wat Sama Thiphal 

A contemporary monastery and pagoda located by the west bank of the Serei Sophorn River in Sisophon. The salaa, or auxillary buildings, almost outshine the pagoda featuring classical style of the mid 1900s.

Wat Preah Ponlea

A contemporary monastery and pagoda located by the east bank of the Serei Sophorn River in Sisophon.

Wat Phnom Svay

A contemporary monastery and pagoda located atop the prominent hill of the same name, Phnom Svay, and looks over the entire city of Sisophon. There is a walking trail that leads from the pagoda entrance heading west and then back east across the top of the small mountain and back to the pagoda. There’s a … Read more

Wat Kirichum Chamkar Khnar

A contemporary monastery and pagoda in Sisiophon featuring a monumental Angkorian-style entrance gate. It is on the west side of Phnom Svay and there is a trail leading from the back of the pagoda to Wat Phnom Svay and the walking path to the top of the mountain.

Wat Koh

Sitting beside the contemporary pagoda, the beautiful old pagoda at Wat Koh features several remnants from an ancient temple including a number of small sandstone pedestals. As mentioned, and just across from the old pagoda is the contemporary pagoda
