[Updated] We’ve Lost Facebook & Instagram, again.

Apologies to followers of HelloAngkor.com on Facebook and Instagram as we have lost access to both accounts once again for reasons unknown. It’s similar to last time but this time, access to Instagram and other social accounts has been lost too. Around the 8th of Feb there was an email alerting to suspicious activity and the need to secure the account and change the password, moments later another email stated the account had been suspended for not following Community Standards. Noting it’s my personal account (Rod Charles) that’s suspended, which is mostly unused bar from connections in local groups etc., and, as the account that maintains the HelloAngkor page.

For 24 hours it was impossible to access Facebook in any way from any of my devices with the response being a blank white page stating “Sorry, this content isn’t available right now”.

Sometime after that, I could at least get access to Facebook and was met with a prompt to confirm identity by uploading ID, which was impossible on the desktop but successful on the mobile. Then, met with a page stating Community Standards had been breached while not stating why specifically, I could submit an appeal by clicking a button. And since the 9th, things have progressed no further.

The HelloAngkor Twitter account, which had one post, was also suspended, and I received emails about login challenges from two other social media accounts. You could draw conclusions from that but I really don’t have any information to be sure, hacking is so prevalent these days it is really difficult to know apart from waiting for a response from Facebook and Twitter that may add some clarity.

I can only wait and see, and apologies to all followers and friends.

Updateaccess was restored and I thank Facebook for their service. It took just over a week and the account was restored after once again submitting ID. Turns out it was a hacker, posting dubious images on two Cambodia related pages, but not other pages… Anyways, I hope they are successful in tracking down the root source of that trouble. To date, there has been no reply back from Twitter regarding that account.
