Siem Reap Province

Boundary Marker (Kampong Kdei)

Ancient boundary marker or mile marker. A chance discovery while having lunch, the lady at the shop mentioned it as being one of three in the area along the road at regular intervals. Also, the food is delicious there, bai sach chrouk pictured below.

Buddha Stupa (Khnar Po)

Located east of Banteay Ampil, along the route of the ancient East Road, a new pagoda/stupa is under construction. 09/22 12/22 12/2024

Wat Chas (Khvav, Chikreng)

Also recorded as Chass Pagoda, it’s a contemporary monastery and pagoda featuring remnants of an ancient temple. Remnants include a large collection of laterite, some shaped, gathered by a tree. Wat Otakok

Contemporary monastery with an older wooden vihara and new salaa buildings under construction (01/23)

Wat Trapeang Khat

Located in Svay Leu district near the Siem Reap-Preah Vihear border, it’s an older wood-columned vihara with several meditation huts/monks quarters that have recently been refurbished.

Wat Toek Lech 

A contemporary pagoda that is located west of Beng Mealea and near the ancient sites of Kuk Troap, Daun Chan and Ta Phou. On the pagoda’s east side, fragments of a pair of small lions can be seen. It’s possible that they originated from the nearby Prasat Kuk Troap.

Tuol

Square mound appears to be surrounded by a moat with a basin to the north. No remnants were seen.

Wat Pursat (Siem Reap)

Labelled on Google Maps as Two Pursat Pagoda, it’s a monastery with a relatively new pagoda. A small shrine beside the pagoda houses a number of remnants, some look old, some look ancient, in particular, what looks like the head of Avalokiteshvara. Wat Khmera

Located in Pouk, the grounds are large with many colourful and bright gold stupas. The pagoda features many murals and porched entrances. Images: March 2025

Wat Svay Thom

A colorful temple that features outer and inner murals, detailed pediments with Vishnu riding the garuda, and beautiful naga fans that are quite detailed front and back. The roof is also quite unique.

Wat Kong Moch

A smaller peaceful monastery featuring an ornate pagoda with beautifully decorated doors and pediments.
