Kampong Thom Province

Kampong Thom is home to the UNESCO World Heritage listed Sambor Prei Kuk group of temples and several other significant ancient sites including Prasat Andet, Prasat Svay Ier, Kok Nokor Temple, Phnom Santuk and many more.
Wat Serei Mongkul (Baray District)
Contemporary monastery and pagoda. At the time of visiting the pagoda was under restoration (Feb 2023).
Wat Punneray
Monastery with ancient temple remains and two pagodas. Above the balan inside the larger pagoda there’s a large and beautiful chaitya from an ancient temple and inside the smaller pagoda there are also several ancient temple remnants.
Wat Sakram
Contemporary monastery and pagoda that seems to always be locked (Dec 2022 & Feb 2023). Update 12/2024: On passing, the monastery was open! It retains some very interesting remnants of Buddha statues and older-style sema and sema pedestals that may have originated from a development prior to the pagoda we see today. Images 12/2024
Baveng Temple
Site featuring remnants of an ancient temple including stone lion, pedestal, feet of small statue, and other sandstone fragments.
Wat Pou MeanChey
Contemporary monastery and pagoda located along the route to Sambour Prei Kuk. Also recorded as Maha Vipassana Pagoda. At the time of visiting (Dec 2022) the pagoda was undergoing renovation with new murals in the works.
Wat Cheay Sampov
Contemporary monastery and pagoda that features an ancient pedestal fragment at the base of the balan.
Wat Khleang Khmaut
Contemporary monastery and pagoda. Immediately south is the large stupa/chedi known as Khleang Khmaut Temple. Updated pics from 12/22
Wat Tuol Kreul
Contemporary monastery and pagoda. At the time of visiting (02/23) the pagoda was under restoration and prior to consecration with the base sema still yet to be placed.

Wat Preah Krasang (Kampong Svay)
Contemporary monastery and pagoda featuring remnants from an ancient temple site and from the post-Angkor era including older style stone carved sema.
Wat Prasat (Stoung, Kampong Thom)
Also recorded as Wat Prasat Svay Chrum, located in Stoung district of Kampong Thom, its a contemporary monastery and pagoda housing remains of an ancient temple site. Ancient remains seen include a lintel and sandstone plinth. The village here is quite beautiful and nearby is the Prasat Ampil Rolom.
Phnom Tbeng Srah Khchau
Also known as Wat Sothyro Ratanaream, it’s a contemporary monastery and older pagoda with scenic spots and a stupa and shrine that overlooks a stunning natural karst landscape and the lush green fields below.
Srah Khchau Stupa
A large chedi that was constructed in 2006 that is extremely well built using a laterite base for the platform and in the body of the stupa itself. It is located en route to Wat Sothyro Ratanaream (Khmer: វត្តសុធីរោរតនារាម)
Srah Khchau Scenic Spot
Located en route to Srah Khchau Temple, there is a trail that leads to a cluster of small ad-hoc shrines located on the side of the mountain.
