Wat

A map of Wats and Pagodas in Cambodia including those visited and planning to visit. For the most part, these are pagodas connected with ancient sites and those visited along the journey in between. It’s a relatively small map considering that according to the Ministry of Cults and Religion (via Khmer Times), Cambodia has 5,104 Buddhist pagodas with 70,905 monks!

Wat Po Rieng

A quirky and unusual pagoda located in Ou Prasat Commune of Mongkol Borei District. I dropped by here in Feb 2022 (see Red Dot Tour) although at that time it was still under construction with the seemingly sole monk working tirelessly on the creation of a Walt Disney-style Buddhist pagoda. Dropping by again in August … Read more

Wat Luong (Mongkol Borei)

Also recorded as Wat Loung Si Sovath Ratanaram (Khmer: វត្តហ្លួងស៊ីសុវត្ថិរតនារាម). The pagoda is a little unique with its chambered entrances, although there are a few others. Unfortunately, the pagoda wasn’t open on our last visit. The 25m tall stupa was completed in 2018.

A contemporary monastery and pagoda located atop the prominent hill of the same name, Phnom Svay, and looks over the entire city of Sisophon.
