Located around 6km to the southwest of Beng Mealea and around 500m north of the supposed path of the ancient East Road that joined Angkor to Beng Mealea, Prasat Roeu, or Prasat Reu, features the remnants of a 10th-century brick temple. It was a small temple with a single shrine opening to the east with an outer laterite wall, by eye around 30m x 30m, with a gopura (gate) on the east and west sides. There is a basic immediately to the east which is around 30m x 36m.
Historical Notes
….The second, marked Prasat Roeu on the map, is to the west of the previous one, very close to the track which links Damrei Kón to Tük Lič: it is a brick prasat half buried under the scree from which emerges the top of the gate to the east: there was perhaps an avant-corps on this side, but only a survey could clarify this.
The lintel showing Indra on Airävata is of the type that places this monument in the 10th century. Two remains of almost completely collapsed gopuras are seen to the east and west, as well as remains of a laterite enclosure wall. On a lintel lying near the west gopura we see Shiva holding Uma on his lap, mounted on the bull Nandin.
