Ancient Longvek Citadel Wall and Moat

Surrounding the ancient 16th-17th capital at Longvek is an earthen wall and moat easily visible from the present-day village road that intersects it. The wall would have been several meters high and several meters wide in its heyday with the soil likely coming from the excavation of the several-meter-wide moat that fronted it. During the wetter months, the moat still be seen carrying water.

The wall and moat enclose an area of roughly 6 square km if the canal/stream on the east side is considered to be the border. Researchers also note the traces of a second outer enclosure a further 500m out. I didn’t notice it in my travels but it may be able to be seen on the western side. Notably, Wat Traleang Keng sits roughly at the center of the enclosed space, surrounded by other sites from the era.
