Wat Lom Proleung

A contemporary monastery also recorded as Wat Loam Proleung (វត្តលោមព្រលឹង) and Wat Lorm Brolerng. It was built on an ancient site according to reports while the existing pagoda and stupas we see today may likely date back 100 years or so. The site also features unique sema stones demarcating the inner space of the pagoda.

E. Lunet de Lajonquière reported on the site in his 1911 publication Inventaire descriptif des monuments du Cambodge under the name Sam Prolung noting

Sam Prolung. The pagoda of this village, located 3 kilometers SW of Banteai Srei, is built on the site of a sanctuary in bricks, now razed, the materials of which were used in its construction.

The site has been restored in very recent times and according to a report by Kim Hong, it dates back to 1890 having also been restored once in 1962 also featuring an inscription on the stupa dating to 1930.

Getting there: The site is located around 30km east of Siem Reap and just after the Angkor Wildlife & Aquarium before Damdek and around 3km south of the RN 6. Access is via a dirt road in great condition as of 06/2022.
