Preah Theat (Kampong Svay)

Remains of an ancient site including a mound with scattered bricks, an array of laterite blocks, sandstone plinths, and a sandstone pedestal housed in a shelter. The site is located just north of road 6 and with its shady tree has become a nice spot to stop and take a break from driving.

Wat Bon Ban Dei

A small monastery where the pedestal of an ancient site is also seen with contemporary sema stones surrounding the pagoda. The site is not marked as an ancient site and at the time I wasn’t able to establish the origins of the pedestal. A mystery to solve for the next passerby.

Wat Chan Serey

Contemporary monastery and pagoda located on the east side of the Stung Sen river in Kampong Svay Commune of Kampong Thom.

Wat Cheay Sampov

Contemporary monastery and pagoda that features an ancient pedestal fragment at the base of the balan.

Wat Koh Roka

Contemporary monastery and pagoda located on the west side of the Stung Sen river in Kampong Svay Commune of Kampong Thom. Double-story pagodas can be seen here and there with a lecture hall on the first floor and prayer hall above but this features an unusual ventilation “attic” in between that and the roof.

Wat Mohar

Also recorded as Brasat Mohr Pagoda, a contemporary monastery featuring the remains of a gopura and causeway on the east side of its pagoda, with the pagoda itself built upon a base of laterite likely belonging to the ancient site. Wat Pou MeanChey

Contemporary monastery and pagoda located along the route to Sambour Prei Kuk. Also recorded as Maha Vipassana Pagoda. At the time of visiting (Dec 2022) the pagoda was undergoing renovation with new murals in the works.

Contemporary monastery and pagoda that houses ancient remains including two lintel fragments, spouted pedestal, decorated door column fragment, and sandstone plinths.

Wat Preah Krasang (Kampong Svay)

Contemporary monastery and pagoda featuring remnants from an ancient temple site and from the post-Angkor era including older style stone carved sema.

Wat Preah Vihear Khpuos

A contemporary monastery and pagoda that once had an old wooden vihara hall demarcated by ornate sema stones also featuring a stupa (refer Cisark #1615). Today, a new pagoda is under construction. Near the pagoda, a shelter housing remnants of an ancient temple can be seen including a sandstone spout, plinths, and a moonstone (doorstep).

Wat Ruessei Cheah

A beautiful old contemporary monastery and pagoda that’s under restoration (as of mid-2022)

Wat Spean Krong

Located in the village of Spean Krong, it’s a contemporary monastery and pagoda featuring ancient relics including a small collection of relics, and two sandstone plinths placed as a sema.
