Siem Reap is once again hosting the massive spectacular that is Angkor Sankranta, celebrating Khmer New Year, with events kicking off on the 13th through to the 16th. Work along the riverside and at Angkor Wat has been going on for weeks in the lead up to the event, and it’s going to be huge!
While the official dates are the 14th, 15th and 16th, activity starts warming up from as early as the 12th and the official opening ceremony kicks things off on the evening of the 13th with the flag raising ceremony and meditation session at Angkor Wat.
There are three main event areas: in front of Angkor Wat, which will include exhibitions, performances, games, and wet zone; along the Siem Reap River & the Royal Independence Gardens which will include exhibitions, performances, games, concerts, and wet zone, and of course, Pub Street for concerts. The popular Ox Cart/Chariot Races and Veay Prodom (Khmer Hockey) will take place Angkor Gyeongju/Road 60.
