On October 28 and 29th, Angkor Wat hosted celebrations for the 20th anniversary of King Norodom Sihamoni’s coronation under the “Smile of Cambodia” event. Exhibition of local foods, souvenirs and Khmer arts, plus traditional Khmer performances took place throughout the day while the big event was the Kings Parade that started at 4 PM along the terrace of Angkor Wat.
The Khmer people’s love for their king, ancestry, and heritage radiated in all directions. In turn, Mother Nature radiated that love back, with an amazing spectacle of the sunset’s golden glow illuminating the towers of the grand temple.

We hung around till late and soaked up the opportunity to see Angkor Wat’s western gopura (entrance pavilion) under lights, which is a spectacle in itself.
