Wat Sala Kou

A contemporary monastery and pagoda located on the north side of Oudong Mountain. At the steps to the pagoda, an ancient linga is seen along with a “mini-prasat” that was often used as corner finials on Angkorian-era temples. Resting beside that finial is a remnant from a post-Angorian era Buddhist Terrace.

Historical Notes

In VAT SLAKU (79.15) four three-piece linga of 1 m. 20 in height are placed at the four corners of the second level; at least two have an oval shaped knob and one has a small head. At the foot of a chedi is a piece of stele with four faces inscribed of the 12th century (?); another chedi also has a small inscription, but which is probably modern.
