Wat Preah Prasob

Contemporary monastery and pagoda in Ksach Kandal, located on the east bank of the Mekong River it’s actually quite unique. How old is the pagoda? We asked some locals and no one was too sure but they were helpful enough to help us search for a date albeit without any luck.

Regardless, it’s a spectacular ensemble of art and craftsmanship with stencil-cut wooden eave decorations depicting what I guess is the Reamker narrative, Buddhist tales, or a combination thereof; gazebo-style entrance porches carrying a coat of arms among its other decorative features; all of which is preceded by grand chedi and monumental monks and their alms bowls. Helping it along are the beautiful waterfront views where it backs onto the Mekong River.
