A quirky and unusual pagoda located in Ou Prasat Commune of Mongkol Borei District. I dropped by here in Feb 2022 (see Red Dot Tour) although at that time it was still under construction with the seemingly sole monk working tirelessly on the creation of a Walt Disney-style Buddhist pagoda. Dropping by again in August 2023, he is still hard at work!
While some might niggle about the execution, it’s quite spectacular, both in the concept and its creation, almost as if walking into the dream of a truly devoted Khmer Buddhist. Which in fact, that’s probably exactly what it is.
Wandering around the small grounds, there are all kinds of nooks and crannies with idols and deities from the Khmer pantheon everywhere to be seen along with a grand reclining Buddha.
