Wat Phneat Sampily

Located on the far western side of Phnom Penh, Wat Phneat Sampily is a contemporary monastery featuring a grand and ornate multi-spired stupa. The monastery and pagoda grounds are large and quite beautiful featuring several halls, a large basin, several monumental Buddha statues, and so on.

But, perhaps the most intriguing is the curious stupa that fronts the pagoda on the eastern side, restored in recent years, it is recorded as dating to 1914, while others herald the site as dating back to the era of King Ang Chan in the 16th century. Two smaller stupas of similar style flank the pagoda on either side.

Regardless of history, which I hope to come back and clarify at some point, it’s a very beautiful place to drop by and enjoy the wonder.
