Located at the southern end of Pailin city, and at the foothill of Phnom Yat, Wat Kong Kang is pagoda and monastery dating back to 1942. The pagoda, like the constructions atop Phnom Yat was built by the Kula people who lived here in the 1900s, working as gem traders. Monks had to abandon the area during the Khmer Rouge era and returned later, with the pagoda restored in more recent times.
