Also recorded as Prasat Chey Preth Pagoda, it is located on the southeastern side of Preah Vihear city. The site features the remains of what was once a large ancient temple site and now also a contemporary monastery and pagoda.
The ancient site is noted as being a group of three brick temples. The head monk of the site mentioned the remains that are seen standing are of one of the “library” buildings. He also notes the site was once surrounded by a deep moat which was filled-in in recent times. Various remnants including sandstone plinths, lintel fragments, a standing doorframe etc are still in situ to be seen with the main remains topped by a prayer hall.
A new pagoda is under construction and from the plans, it seems it could become one of the most notable in Cambodia and one to keep an eye on. Gargantuan wooden pillars can be seen stacked up by the site in readiness with the head monk and the achar, who both speak English, giving hints to the incredible plans afoot.
