Unnamed Site – Angkor Thom

An uncleared site. Group of two small shrines located in the northeast corner of Angkor Thom. Both in a state of ruin with only some of the base and sidewalls remaining. Currently, these sites are uncleared not easily accessible.

The site features two square laterite structures with the larger of the two measuring around 4 m wide and 2-3 m tall albeit mostly in ruin. The site is surrounded by sema stones of differing styles set out at some distance from the two structures. There are also two massive unfinished pedestals located just immediately south and a large round sandstone piece.

Sema stones would indicate that this is a site from the late-Angkor or middle-period although it’s unknown if they were new constructions or modifications to an existing site. The site is bordered by what was once Angkor Thoms inner moat to the east and a gulley/basins surrounding the other sides.

To the north is another sema delimited site, where only a small mound with some sandstone remnants can be seen.

The two sites were noted by Henri Marchal in “Monuments secondaires et terrasses bouddhiques d’Ańkor Thom. In: Bulletin de l’Ecole française d’ExtrêmeOrient. Tome 18, 1918” as Edicules N.
