Thnâl Dach Temple (Tomnob Anlong Kravil Temple)

Featuring three standing brick towers, library building, outer gallery wall measuring 30 m x 25 m, outer moat, and large basin in the east, and an adjacent contemporary monastery. Thnal Dach is a charming remote site in the Angkor region.

The outer wall is still standing in part featuring a main entrance on the east with a low set doorway and several false entrances on the inside of what would have been a chambered wall.

Around the outer enclosure wall, there are several false windows with squared columns carved from brick which is unusual for this region. The library and connecting chambers of the three towers feature an open version of the same window style.

Inside the wall there is a small library building to the left and to the right a pile of brick rubble that was perhaps the second library.

Then three brick towers, that are unusually joined by a connecting chamber, each feature at least two levels of false floor rises that can still be seen which had half-height false doors and a decorative tympanum above them.

The rear of the three towers you can note the ruinous extension of the middle tower set with a false door.

The lintels of two of the towers are still in situ with the western towers laying out front of its doorway

Around the site

The surrounding roads are not sealed but in good order at the time of posting, the village is aslo very beautiful especially in the wet season. Nearby you will find the remains of “Neang Meas” temple.
