Wat Thipadei

Also recorded as Wat Atheb Dai. A beautiful village monastery and pagoda that rests upon what was once an ancient temple site. The pagoda itself is surrounded by the sites original moat and atop the platform of the pagoda, a large collection of sandstone remains from the ancient 10th-century temple can be seen.

In the last image, we see a replica of “the wrestlers”, found at Prasat Thom, Koh Ker with the original now located in the Phnom Penh National Museum.

Inscription

An inscription on the ancient remains was recorded under K. 253 located on a doorjamb featuring Khmer + Sanskrit text. George Coedes notes one giving a date of 910 AD (the era of Icanavarman II) and another dating to 1005 AD (the era of Suryavarman)- IC III, p. 103
