Terrace B2 – Angkor Thom

An as yet unprepared site for visitors (05/2021). The site was originally noted by Henri Marchal back in the 1900s as group of two sites, Terrace B and this one, B2. Both are related to Theravadan Buddhism that became predominant in the post God-King era/late Angkor period.

The site, overgrown, features a tall stepped structure, several meters square and several tall that extends with a porch heading eastward. The trail of the ruinous structure including sandstone blocks, carved pieces (perhaps recycled from elsewhere), column piece, laterite, etc extends around 40 m and about 15-20 m wide.

Curiously, there are lots of large sandstone blocks with rounded edges and a large, one meter, shaped sandstone piece awaiting excavation, what could that be?

At the time of writing, (06/21), the site is being investigated by the Angkor Vihara Project/APSARA.
