Ta Va Temple

Also known as Prasat Tava, it is a group of two sandstone temples, one still standing, the other in ruin. It is located alongside the Siem Reap river about 15km, as the crow flies, from central Siem Reap city. Water flows have almost made the area into an island and dense scrub surrounds the rarely visited site that is reached by foot/bike trails only.

The standing sandstone tower seems unfinished, having been constructed and left without and final carving of ornate decoration. The fallen tower appears to be of a different style noting the remnants left scattered surrounding the large well that would have once held is consecration deposits.

To the southeast, a mound of brick shards is seen, and the occasional brick is seen around the tower itself perhaps indicating it was built upon an earlier site.

The site also features the remains of a statue of Nandi the sacred bull.
