- Area: Siem Reap Province > Soutr Nikom District > Popel Commune > Kol Thmei Village
- | Type: Ancient Remains & Temples
Remains of brick temple that likely pre-dated the 12th century at least, by noting the use of brick alone. It sits 500m north of the ancient East Road, which joined Angkor to Beng Mealea and Preah Khan of Kampong Svay, which is typically a development dated to around the 12th century in terms of its masonry bridges and supporting temples.
On visiting the site (12/2024), the site is engulfed and perhaps preserved by dense shrubs. It was so densely engulfed that access was only permitted by a “tunnel” through overgrowth. What remains appears to be a simple temple that was built in brick and used sandstone around its base and for its false doors, one of which is still standing. It appears to have never been completed as the false door and a colonette fragment lacks any decorative carving, and the sandstone base also lacks shaping or decorative carving.
