Reachny Longvek Resort

Located in between the ancient city of Longvek and Oudong, about 30km north of Phnom Penh, Reachny Longvek Resort is a new development set to offer a large-scale cultural tourism park. It is expected to be completed in 2024.

Some background – Longvek was a vibrant capital during the 16th century under the highly regarded King Ang Chan and while the city was reportedly razed to the ground by Siamese forces, several archaeological sites including Buddhist Terraces and traces of the citadel remain till this day. Under King Jayjettha II, the capital relocated to nearby Oudong in the 17th century and remained there until moving to what is present-day Phnom Penh in the 19th century.

When we visited Reachny Longvek Resort, in Feb 2024, it was still under development but expected to open sometime this year. Featuring gardens, an island, a maze, and more, it will surely help in making the Longvek-Oudong area even more attractive as a getaway from Phnom Penh, and perhaps make the area more attractive for overnight tourist stays.

What will surely become an icon of the location is the giant sandstone elephant that’s under development, it’s so big that it can be seen from the top of Oudong Mountain, almost 7km away!
