Terrace (River)

An uncleared site mostly in ruin that has a small structure about with only the base remaining, several sandstone plinths, and shaped pieces.

Gallery

The base structure is about 10 m square with unique molding in sandstone atop a core of laterite and located at the western end of the site, it is surrounded by a wall/embankment on either side that runs forward to the east about 40 m. It appears to have another outer wall/embankment surrounding that which is then surrounded by a moat. Between the structure and its eastern end, there are scattered remains of sandstone plinths.

The site also features bas-reliefs of Rahu and Garuda and when combined with the site layout, style of the laterite molding, make the site a little bit of a mystery with the question asked, is this late/post Angkor construction often referred to as “Buddhist Terraces” while its origins possibly date to the 10th century.
