Wat Kchas (Prasat Srah Kandal Pagoda)

Located in Preah Net Preah District of Banteay Meanchey, the recently completed Wat Kchas is a stunning new monastery and pagoda featuring a pagoda with dramatic golden spires in a walled enclosure that is surrounded by large gardens. It’s quite something to behold and will undoubtedly become a major attraction in the area and one of the notable attractions in the country, especially for those of the Buddhist faith.

There are nice trails leading around numerous Buddha statues, sculptures, water features, and a stupa connected with a monastery in Sri Lanka. On the eastern side of the pagoda there is a large boat in the style of the sacred mythical bird, Hang. The pagoda is preceded by naga baluster-lined terraces, reminiscent of ancient Angkorian sites, leading to an outer enclosure with a spire at each corner. Inside the enclosure, the pagoda, painted in luminous gold, is a double story with a library on the lower floor and a Buddha statue on the upper level.

There is also a coffee shop on-site, and lots of places to sit and relax.

You can follow them on Facebook and the abbot, Ven. Chan So Chun, is on Youtube and on Facebook.
