Phnom Thom (Mongkol Borei)

Cave where different archaeological remains were found inc. pedestals, representations of Ganesha, and a recorded inscription entry, K 1049 (Report: Cisark). The mountain itself is heavily mined on its other sides (05/02/22) to the point it has completely gone while the cave site appears to be protected although seemingly unkept at the time which is worrying.

The inscription K. 1049 is recorded from a stele (not seen on site) featuring ten lines of Sanskrit dating to the 10th century and attributed to Saiva ascetics, which was translated in a research paper by Dominic Goodall published in 2016 that can be accessed here.

You can reach the site by taking the road around the north side of the mountain to a point directly north-northeast of the site looking for the red marker post pictured below, then follow a concreted path that leads about 600 m to the site.
