Phnom Thma Pouk Temple

A partially standing ancient brick temple located atop a small mountain, at the foot of which is the pagoda and monastery. From the pagoda, there is a staircase that leads up to the top of the mountain passing by a small contemporary shrine before reaching a crumbling but charismatic vihara (hall or pagoda if you like) with a Buddha statue still radiating regardless. Keep following the trail around past the pagoda for some way, passing by a couple of stone vessels (ancient or old, I don’t know) until reaching the remains of the ancient temple. Note that the ancient temple is a bit further on than where Google Maps says it is.

Only about waist height of the brick temple base remains to be seen and a bit overgrown at the time (08/22) but nice to see. It would have been a quite large tower and if you carefully wander to one side you can see where the platform was built up to create a base for the tower/towers. In their day, cleared of trees, these towers would have radiated across the lands below.

Prasat Phnom Puok Pagoda (Khmer: វត្តប្រសាទភ្នំថ្មពួក) Xiaomi 9 pro images of the pagoda and way up.
