Located atop a hill in Choam Khsant District of Preah Vihear, near to the large Neak Buos Temple, and on the grounds of an emerging monastery, is a small, square, and partially standing brick temple. The ancient temple is surrounded by an enormity of brick rubble, some of which is arranged to form a perimeter, ancient or contemporary I don’t know. The standing temple houses a beautiful late-era statue and curiously is open to the east with false doors set in the brickwork on the other sides with the western side has been opened.
At the monastery, the abbot is overseeing the creation of modern stoneworks with the nearly completed and beautiful carving of a reclining Buddha.
Also known as Wat Tanei, Phnom Daek, and Phnom Dop.
