Kuk Temple

Prasat Kuk features an outer laterite enclosure wall with a central temple (in ruin), a library building in the southeast corner, and remains of a large entrance gopura on the eastern side.

The central temple, constructed of laterite with sandstone doorframes, is almost completely in ruin and difficult to determine its original form. What remains is a very small cell, barely large enough to hold the three-hole pedestal that is still in situ. This is in stark contrast to the scale of eastern entry gopura of the outer enclosure wall which is a large chamber topped by a triangular gable and flanked by side chambers, and may have had a hall preceding the entry, again, all constructed in laterite with sandstone doorframes still in place.

Inside the enclosure, in the southeastern corner, is the remains of a “library” building. Two shelters outside the enclosure hold further sandstone pieces.

Site is accessed via the adjacent monastery and located behind an army barracks,
