Located just north of the RN5 in Kampong Luong Village, Kandal, the shrine features a golden statue of King Ang Duong (reign 1848–1860). He held his capital at Oudong with the palace at what is now Wat Veang Chas and his stupa sits among the many atop Oudong Mountain. He was the son of his predecessor King Ang Eng (reign 1779-1797) and father of King Norodom (reign 1860–1904) and King Sisowath (reign 1904–1927).
A small quirk is the sandstone plinths used for bollards around the shrine, they are very similar in size and shape to the bollards used to line the ancient roads in the Angkorian era, as seen in the Kampong Kdei area of Siem Reap near Spean Praptos.
