Kampong Cham Provincial Museum

In central Kampong Cham, on the east side of the river and just south of the night market is the Department of Culture and Fine Arts
(Khmer: មន្ទីរវប្បធម៌និងវិចិត្រសិល្បៈ) where they have a small storeroom packed with ancient remnants and artifacts discovered in the province. Whilst the collection is small, like many of the regional museums, the items are usually unique and fascinating.

It’s not set up as a museum at this stage, more of safe storage, although the kind lady that works there is quite knowledgeable. When we visited in August 2023 the museum was only open on Fridays and there was no fee for entry, also note the staff only speak Khmer.

A selection of their pieces that caught my attention – descriptions are my own, don’t blame the staff if they are wrong 🙂
