Kaek Pong Temple

Located on the hillside of Phnom Kaek, between two military bases, Prasat Kaek Pong is a partially standing brick temple. Only two walls are standing, featuring false doors and embossed pilasters. Most interesting is the embossed brickwork on the pediment, and also on each side of the false doors, which would have been awaiting decorative carving. Around the base, you can see that the carving detail had begun, but alas, was never finished.

According to the decorative features remaining, the site likely dates to the 7-8th century.

Getting to Kaek Pong Temple – From road four, almost opposite the school, there is a dirt road that leads north connecting with a road that leads west, then northwest to a basin. From there, it’s a climb up a rocky path to the top taking around 20 minutes.
