Dang Tung South Temple

Located on the northern side of the Koh Ker group of temples, Prasat Dang Tung (or Don Ton South) features the remains of a rectangular laterite building that houses a beautifully decorated pedestal. This laterite building opened to the east and also featured decorated octagonal door columns. Remnants of other structures can be seen, looks like some recent archeological work has taken place there too (03/23), what may be remnants of an outer wall, plus the remnants of a stone lion at the eastern side of the site.

Historical Notes

Prasat Dan Ton South. 281.11 (M. H. 691).

At 80m. to the south are the remains of another prását of the same name which appears to be oriented in the same way and on the same plane, so far as its almost shapeless ruin allows us to judge. Nothing remains of the door and one can only imagine a false door to the south.
