Chamrieng Temple

Also known as Chamreang Temple. Mostly standing rectangular laterite temple, opening to the east and originally surrounded by a moat. It is located near to Damdek, and 500 m north of the RN6 and what was a section of the anceint Royal Road from Angkor to Andet/Sambor Prei Kuk.

Just to the south is another temple with only the base remaining.

Historical Notes

Prasat Prei Komrieng (The Komrieng Forest Sanctuary). It is a massive square sanctuary, made of limonite, measuring 5.5m in width; its door open to the E. is preceded by an outbuilding, the N., W. and S. facades are decorated with false doors. The entire sanctuary itself and its forebody rest on a high limonite base.

The collapsed vaults fill the interior with their debris.

This building was not finished: the sandstone parts of the doors and false doors, frames, columns, decorative lintels, etc., are barely roughed.

A ditch surrounds the raised mound where the sanctuary stands, and a large pond dug to the E. is still full of water all year round
