  • K 167 – 4 lines of Sanskrit and 13 lines of Khmer – IC VI, p. 212

PIEDROIT DE PRASAT BEN NORTH (K. 167)

The southern tower of the western row of Prását Běň Nord, a monument in the vicinity of Čikrèn (province of Kompon Thom) ignored by AYMONIER, bears an inscription engraved on its southern jamb, which was stamped by L. DE LAJONQUIÈRE and more recently by G. TROUVÉ.

It is a 20-line inscription in beautiful 10th-century script. The first four are in Sanskrit and give, after a erased year, the various astronomical elements of a date in a kokalika meter stanza.

The following 16 lines are so worn that L. DE LAJONQUIERE had not even recognized their existence. Lines 11 to 14 at least are in Khmer. Lines 15 to 20 are in Sanskrit and form 3 çloka which must contain imprecations, to judge by the meager vestiges that remain.
