Wat Banteay Russei

Contemporary monastery and pagoda that retains three stele/Buddhist boundary markers in two separate Neak Ta shelters.

The boundary markers, around 1m in height, are interesting for depicting Angkorian style niches inset with the standing Buddha. One is heavily damaged, another features reasonably refined carving albeit eroded while other in a second shelter is less less refined with shallow relief work.

Nearby, a torso fragment of a sandstone lion is seen. On the east side of the site is an older style stucco rendered square chedi, how old, I am unsure.
