Balang Temple (Kampong Thom)

Prasat Balang is a partially standing brick temple surrounded by a moat. The site is entered from the main road to the north which winds around the southern side of the site and into the eastern entrance where there is a shelter housing several remnants including window frames and a lintel among other pieces. The temple is built upon a laterite base, with sandstone base molding and then rising up in brick.

The central sanctuary is square, with a long forebody extending the eastern entrance seemingly having once featured open windows with columns, and side entrances. The other sides of the sanctuary feature false doors formed in sandstone yet without any decoration as is the case with many of the door columns seen resting in different places indicating that the site was never fully completed.
