Anlong Thom Temple

Located atop the beautiful Kulen Mountain and is the first temple in what is a closely grouped set of sites on the eastern side of the mountain just south of the village of Anlong Thom. Interestingly, each of the sites in this grouping is open to the west. It is almost completely in ruin and what remains is the base of one square brick tower, several sandstone plinths, and a large sandstone pedestal. Nearby to the south are Neak Ta temple, Chrei Temple, and Bos Neak Temple.

Historical Notes

The site was first documented by Jacques Lagisquet in 1936

Prasat Anlong Thom is composed of a single tower, located 75 m. north of Neak Ta. Leaving this tower we found the lintel reproduced in photo 3868 which is an intermediate lintel between type II and the type III. Photo 3869 shows the base of this prasat and a fragment of an octagonal colonette.
