Preah Kok Thlok

Located immediately west of the Bayon Temple in Angkor Thom, it’s a recently reconstructed ancient Buddhist terrace, demarcated by double sema while also featuring the remains of laterite chedi/reliquary on its western side. It remains a sacred site for locals who come to pray here.

The remains of the laterite structure at the western end of the site are interesting, featuring steps noticeable on its sides and having collected numerous sandstone remnants of deposit stones, pedestals and fragments of small Buddha statues. On the topic of Buddhist Terraces in Angkor Thom and links to new research, see here.

A little further west from this site is Preah Ang Kok Thlok featuring the remains of two sandstone stupas. There are remains of two more stupas located behind Preah Ngok.
