The Amazing Waterfalls of Cambodia

Not many people think of waterfalls when they think of Cambodia but this list may surprise you. Here is a huge list of Cambodia’s natural waterfalls which are spread out across the nation

Cambodia is a country blessed with epic natural resources and potential tourism destinations yet much of it is yet to be developed so I have broken this list into two parts, which I’ll vaguely describe as known and not well known. Let’s start with the known.

Ouachum (ទឹកធ្លាក់ អូរជាំ)

Location: Samlot commune, Battambang province
The waterfall is 30 meters high, surrounded by huge rocks and a pond. Requires long hike. Located in Ou Chum Village, Kampong Speu Commune, Samlot District, Battambang Province.

Haong Waterfall (ទឹកជ្រោះហោង)

Location: Memut district, Kampong Cham
The site is a mountain that features a cliff and waterfall. Inaccessible at one time, it has become a popular tourist destination in Kampong Cham province. There might be no other place like Haong in the province, where visitors can see real nature. Those who have visited will never forget the jungle and the beautiful waterfall thpt is perfect for swimming. Buddhists often come there to pray to the Buddha statue and to seek blessings from the monk who lives there. According to local authorities, there are 1,800 hectares of jungle at Haong. Some of the trees have been cut by local villagers to clear land to farm. 90 kilometers east of the provincial town

Odar falls (ទឹកជ្រោះអូរដារ)

Location: Kompong Leu district, Kampong Chhnang province
Odar Falls, is located in Thnal village and village of Dar commune, Kompong Leu district, Kampong Chhnang province, and is approximately 17km from the Independence Monument of Kampong Chhnang. It only flows in the wet season and is difficult to reach.

Sre Ampel waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់ស្រែអំពិល)

Location: Tuek Phos district, Kampong Chhnang province
Small falls and rock pools surrounded by lush greenery. Located at Kdol village, Krang Skea commune, euk Phos District, Kampong Chhnang province and is about 61km from the Independence Monument in Kampong Chhnang.

Chambok Ecotourism Site (ទឹក​ជ្រោះ ចំបក់)

Location: Chambok, Kampong Speu
Chambok Community-based Ecotourism site lies at the border of Kirirom National Park in Kompong Speu province. It boasts a beautiful 40-meter high waterfall, which can be reached via a 3 km nature trail. Chambok Eco-tourism Resort, around 70km from Phnom Penh in Kampong Spue province, is just a few kilometres away from Kirirom Hillside resort.

Tada Roung Chan Waterfall (ទឹកជ្រោះ តាដារូងច័ន្ទ)

Location: Kampot, Kampot
It’s 20-30 mins outside of Kampot and features a small natural waterfall and bathing spot with crystal clear waters.

Popokvil Waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់​ពពកវិល)

Location: Bokor Mountain, Kampot
The scenic waterfall has three stages and a main height of 10m with flows best during the wet season. Located on the top of Bokor Mountain in Kampot province, the waterfall is about 7km from the former Bokor Casino complex. It is accesible by car and there is also a large restaurant hall onsite.

Veal Pouch (ទឹកធ្លាក់វាលពួច)

Location: Teuk Chhou District, Kampot
Prasat Waterfall, or more commonly called Veal Pouch Waterfall, is located in Anlong Khmer Village, Andong Khmer Commune, Teuk Chhou District, Kampot Province, and about 12km from the city.

Anlong Thom Waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់អន្លង់ខៀវ)

Location: Teuk Chhou district, Kampot
Small fall and rock pools, located in Prek Kreang village, Prek Thnout commune, Teuk Chhou district, Kampot province, and is around 30km from the city.

Tatai Waterfall (ទឹកជ្រោះតាតៃ)

Location: Tatai, Koh Kong
Located about 40-50 minute from Koh Kong by bike or tuk tuk it is a series of low, wide, stepped falls and pools. You can aslo get there by scenic boat ride up the Tatai river.

Chhay Chrey Falls (ទឹកធ្លាក់ឆាយជ្រៃ)

Location: Smachmeanchey District, Koh Kong
Low stepped rapids. Chhay Chrey Falls is located in Chikhat Commune, Thmor Bang District, Koh Kong Province, and is approximately 124km from Koh Kong roundabout.

Ta Chat waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់​តាចាត)

Location: Mondul Seima district, Koh Kong Province
Ta Chat Waterfall or Ta Kart Waterfall, 20 km from Khemarak Phoum, you will reach the site located in Ta Cheat Village, Toul Kork Commune, Mondul Seima District, Khemarak Phoumint City, Koh Kong Province.

Chrey Thom Waterfall (ទីរមណីយដ្ឋាន​ទឹកធ្លាក់​​ជ្រៃធំ)

Location: Oreang District, Mondulkiri
During the dry season, the waterfall has 15 meters height and 2 meters diameter, and during the rainy season, the waterfall has 11 meters height and 8 meters diameter. The Chrey Thom Waterfall is situated in Poules and Pouchhob Villages, Dakdam Commune, Oreang District; 28 km away from the provincial town. It can be accessed by dirt road. 7 Steps Waterfall (ទឹកជ្រោះ៧ជាន់)

Location: Sen Monorom, Mondulkiri
The “Seven-Falls Waterfall” is a new tourism potential site in the Namila Wildlife Sanctuary. The “7-storey waterfall” was discovered by a military police officer on a patrol in the forest and has become one of the must-see attractions in the area. The waterfall, called the “Seven-Level Waterfall,” is located in Pechrada district, north of Sen Monorom City.

Sen Monorom Waterfall (ទឹកជ្រោះដំណាក់ស្តេច)

Location: Sen Monorom, Mondulkiri
The water fall has three stages going from one meter to nine meters in height with its strongest flows during the rainy season. It is located in Deak Sras Village, Monorom Commune, Sen Monorom City, about 5 km from the city.

Bou Sra Waterfall (ទឹក​ជ្រោះ​ប៊ូស្រា)

Location: Sen Monorom, Mondulkiri
Located at Pich Chinda District, 43 kilometers from Senmonorom town, Bou Sra is the largest waterfall, made famous by a popular Khmer song in Mondulkiri. It is a three-tiered natural waterfall with only the first two tiers accessible to public view. There is a zipline run by local hotel Mayura Hills Resort that runs over the waterfall.

Nam Lear Sanctury (ទឹកធ្លាក់​អូររនៀល)

Location: O’Ruang district, Mondulkiri
A newly discovered fall located 25 km from Sen Monorom city. There is no roads to the falls and a trek of 10 kilometers.

Ou Reang Waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់អូររាំង)

Location: Ou Reang district, Mondulkiri
Located 26 kilometers from Sen Monorom. the main fall is 20m high and 10m wide and is reachen by a new road.

Elephant Head Waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់ ក្បាលដំរី)

Location: Toul Lvea Commune, Pailin Province
Kbal Elephant Waterfall is long stream with 32 levels, located in Thmey Village, Toul Lvea Commune, Pailin District, Pailin Province. There are no roads to the falls and trekking is required.

Barhouy Waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់ បរហ៊ុយ)

Location: Barhouy Tbong Village, Pailin Province
20 meters high waterfall, wide with good flows in the rainy season. Located in Sangkat Braya Khan, about 14km from Pailin City, Pailin Province. There are no roads to the falls, on etrek takes three hours another shortcut trek takes two or so hours with local guide required.

Kandol Sor Waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់ កណ្តុរស)

Location: Thar Mean Chey, Preah Vihear
Beautiful multi staged waterfall reached only by multi-hour trek.

Tangyu Waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់តាំងយូរិ៍)

Location: Phnom Tbeng Meanchey, Preah Vihear Province
An extrmely scenic area with long streams and waterfalls. Tangyu waterfall features many levels some wide and some tall. Nearby is the amazing Rock Top Pagoda.

Preah Nimith waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់ព្រះនិមិត្ត)

Location: Preah Lean Community Forest, Preah Vihear province
it is Cambodia’s largest waterfall with 26m of tiered rock-face, and goes by three names; the Sopheakmit waterfall, the Lbak Khoun waterfall and the Preah Nimith waterfall.

Ka Tieng Waterfall (ទឹក​ធ្លាក់​កាទៀង)

Location: Banlung, Ratanakiri province
Ka Tieng is located 3 kilometers downstream from Ka Chanh waterfall. The waterfall is about 10 meters high featuring a cave behind and set in serene settings. The area is home to the Kreung hill tribe of Ka Tieng village.

Cha Ong Waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់​ចាអ៊ុង)

Location: Banlung, Ratanakiri province
The Cha Ong waterfall is about 8.7km from Ban Lung, near Cha Ong village. The small waterfall features a cave behind and pool which is popular with swimmers.

Ka Chanh Waterfall (រមណីយដ្ឋាន​ទឹក​ធ្លាក់​កាចាញ)

Location: Banlung, Ratanakiri province
Ka Chanh waterfall is located in Ka Chanh commune, Banlung district, about 7 kilometers southeast of Banlung provincial town. The waterfall is 12 meters high and is fed year round by the O’Kan Teung stream. The site is also popular for its suspension bridge, surrounding village homes of the Kreung ethnic minority, and jungle.

Kbal Spean (ក្បាលស្ពាន)

Location: Kulen National Park, Siem Reap
A series of small waterfalls fed by a stream that mainly flows during wet season. The big attraction is the11th-century relief carvings on the stream bed.

Kulen Waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់​ភ្នំគូលេន)

Location: Kulen National Park, Siem Reap
A two level waterfall with a pool that is popular for swimming. Nearby is a traditional cambodian village and a pagoda with a reclining Buddha statue.

Kbal Chhay Waterfall (ទឹកធ្លាក់ក្បាលឆាយ)

Location: Sihanoukville, Sihanoukville
Kbal Chhay Waterfall, is small waterfall located in Prey Nop District, Prey Nop District, Preah Sihanouk Province, about 21km from two lions roundabout. It is accesible by road and the site is suitable for bathing and also has food stalls.

Cham Pey Kratie
Waterfall Of Cham Pey is the natural resort locating at 35-kilometer distance from the provincial town along the road No 68. The resort consists of waterfall at the mountain valley, big rock having 500-square meter size, mountain full of trees and a lot of orchids and other colorfull varied flowers. At 500-meter distance from the waterfall, there is another natural and cultural resort, which has been arranged and organized by monks who make their meditation there. This resort named Rut Cham Pey having many varied statues depicting the process of human life-born and died and other religion and animal figures.
Romnea Waterfall Sen Monorom Mondulkiri
Small peacefull waterfall located 15 Km out of Sen Monorom, on the way to Phnom Penh. There are three waterfalls here.

Lak Pok Bras Waterfall

The Lak Pok Bras Waterfall is located in Romanea Commune, Sen Monorom District; 13 km from the provincial town. It can be reached by path. During the rainy season, the waterfall is 8 meters in height and 39 meters in diameter. During the dry season, the waterfall is 10 meters in height and 20 meters in diameter. At its base, there is a big water reservoir in which tourists can swim happily.
Chrey Yos Waterfall
Mondulkiri
The Chrey Yos Waterfall is located in Laoka Village, Sokhdom Commune and Pouloung Village, Romanea Commune, Sèn Monorom. The resort is flanked by two streams, Trék having a size of 5 m during the rainy season and a size of 1.5 m during the dry season and Tra having a size of 4 m during the rainy season and a size of 1 m during the dry season.
O Taing Laing Waterfall
Mondulkiri
The Taing Laing Waterfall in Mondulkiri is located around 60 kms from the town center of Senmonorom. It is surrounded in the midst of a beautiful forest and is full of scenic beauty. The route to the waterfall is full of idyllic tracks and small cliffs. There is also a small pool underneath the waterfall where travelers can swim.
Or Angkal waterfall Pich Chreada district Mondulkiri province
As the seven-meter high waterfall flows, it brings with it a creamy, coffee-coloured water that separates into two and falls into a big hole which is about 10 metres deep and under the shade of large trees. It is 10km from the Koh Nhek crossroad en route to the Bou Sra waterfall, or 20km from downtown Mondulkiri province.

Leng Khin Waterfall, the province’s highest, measures 25m in the dry season and 28m in the rainy season.
Leng Ong O’Reang district Mondulkiri province
Leng Ong Waterfall measures less than one metre in the dry season and 1m in the rainy season.
Champei Waterfall Oddor Meanchey Oddor Meanchey
Champei waterfall or Laang Ta Thong waterfall is 35 kilometers northeast of Odda Meanchey
O Ta vao Pailin Pailin Province
O’Tavao is located in Sangkat O’Tavao, Khan Pailin, about 5 kilometers from Pailin city. It is a natural site rich in beautiful scenery and clean water, which flows from Phnom Khieu.
Phnom Tbeng waterfall Tbeng Meanchey Preah Vihear province
30m tall Phnom Tbeng, or Thma, waterfall in Preah Vihear province’s Tbeng Meanchey natural heritage site. The almost 30m uninterrupted waterfall offers stunning views, and streams running off provide refreshing bathing spots shaded under tall, lush trees. Tbeng Meanchey Mountain – around 35km from Preah Vihear town.
Stung Ta Sok waterfall Chhay Louk villageOsoam eco-tourism community Pursat province
10m in height and flows into a huge pool below of clear water, which exhausted swimmers bathe in before having lunch. Stung Ta Sok waterfall, which lies between Phnom Samkoh Wildlife Sanctuary and the Cardamom Mountains. Osoam Community Centre. one and a half hour to two hours trek from Stung Ta Sok
