Chong Kneas Floating Village

Located 16 km south of the Siem Reap city center and 5 km south of Phnom Kroam, Chong Kneas is one of the most popular of the several floating villages that line the great Tonle Sap Lake. It is accessed easily by a good sealed road that leads to the pier and ticket office and is very close to the mountain temple of Phnom Krom, a popular sunset spot.

From, the ticket office, which is located by the boat pier and about 3km upstream of the floating village itself. There is a road that leads part way to the village although this is usually underwater and only open to locals.

The boat tour lasts around 2 hours along the river to the edge of the Tonle Sap, looping around the “island” and passing by the floating homes and shops of the small fishing community, with a couple of stops. You also get a grand view out over the open waters of the Tonle Sap, which can be spectacular at sunset, and then back to the pier.

Getting There

You can take a tuk-tuk or car or moto, along good sealed roads from Siem Reap city center. It takes around 25 mins and will cost around $3-$4 one-way in a tuk-tuk, you can negotiate how much for the driver to wait and return you.
