Lich Temple

Also known as Lic Prasat (Credit to Peter Kasteiner and Lon Nak). A group of brick temples in complete ruin. The site is located on the bank of the western Siem Reap River in a large uncleared scrub area just southeast of Prasat Sralao.

Surrounding the temple site itself has been cleared by someone, at some stage, yet there are scant records to be found other than a pencil mark on French maps. It area does appear to be cared for and watched over by someone which is quite lovely to see.

In the remains, various colonette pieces and broken carved plinths, crown pieces, corner pieces along with bricks, and some laterite blocks.

The most interesting and bizarre remain is one solitary large carved sandstone piece that would have had several related large sandstone pieces yet it sits alone. At first, it appears to be a naga, as seen elsewhere as corner pieces or features of balustrades, yet it’s impossible to know in its current position. It probably isn’t a naga as it features a band of romdoul decoration What’s rather odd is the lack of other supporting pieces.

There are clear and well-used trails around the site, used only by locals in transit and or foraging through the scrub area. In the large scrub area, there are low-level mounds but no other remains seen at ground level on a quick walk around.

500 m to the east is a large basin 200 m x 90 m.
