Trom Temple

Located in the northeast of Svay Leu district of Siem Reap, and west of Trapeang Thmor village, Prasat Trom is a group of three temples, surrounded by an outer laterite enclosure. It features the remains of a central sandstone tower with a laterite forebody that opens to the east which is flanked on either side by two laterite structures, mostly in ruin. The central tower never received its final decoration with its walls and lintels completely bare.

However, inside the tower is a sandstone crown from the top of a temple, a decorated door column, a pedestal with a decorated spout, and another decorated fragment. One could wonder if these are remnants from a prior site that the sandstone tower was replacing. Beneath this crown piece is another large sandstone piece, seemingly unfinished but what it is, I have no idea. In front of this are another couple of large fragments.

The outer wall opens to the east with little remnants of a gopura.

Note: as of 01/23, roads leading to the site from either Popel village or Svay Leu are good, with the north-south arterial receiving upgrade works.
