Phnom Ta Mau Temple

Located atop Phnom Tamao, and also recorded as Tamao Mountain Temple, the site features the remains of a brick temple that was once a pair of temples. The remaining brick temple has a contemporary monastery built around it and with the characterful landscape of rocky boulders and views over the plains, it’s a small but interesting site.

The temple has only two walls partially standing with a sandstone doorframe opening to the north, remnants of decorated columns are seen but the star of the show here are the two lintels, one of reclining Vishnu and the other a depiction of the Churning of the Sea of Milk.

Nearby, in fact only 500 m away is the Phnom Tamao Zoological Park and around 400 m to the northwest is Phnom Thma Doh Temple.
