Also known as Sangkae North temple as there is reportedly another temple (or remnants thereof) located 1km to the south. This small square laterite temple is partially standing, opens to the east, and several sandstone fragments can be seen including a fragment of a round pedestal, another round fragment, a fragment decorated with foliage, and several sandstone plinths buried in overgrowth. To the east is a large basin (dry). The site is located 450m to the northwest of the store pictured below which is located along the main route through the area (02/23).
Historical Notes
Prasat Sang Ke. This name designates two limonite sanctuaries placed 1 kilometer from each other following an N.-S.
The one at the north is about 3 m. 20 externally. It is preceded on its east face by a vast basin with geometric shapes surrounded by a rectangular earthen embankment. The aedicule itself is completely ruined; only the door frame is still standing. In front of this door, the decorative lintel which adorned it is broken into two fragments: it is of type III, with foliage, with a horizontal generatrix; on the monster’s head is a figure seated on a throne, holding a small club in his raised left hand. Two fragments of statuettes of women and a few other carved stones are scattered around the monument.
The second of these sanctuaries stands on a small mound. It is also of limonite, square, open to the east, but almost completely collapsed. The decorative device of its door is still in place; the decorative lintel is of type III, with foliage and horizontal generators, with, as a central group, Indra on the three-headed elephant. These sculptures are disjointed by the rootlets of the shrubs which crown the ruins of the aedicule and penetrate into the stone through the cracks.
