Peung Komnou

Located north of Wat Svay Leu and at the foothills of Phnom Kulen, Peung Komnou features stunning rock carvings. There are actually several separate carvings to see here on a group of rock monoliths. The trail leading to the site is suitable for moto/bike/hike although a vehicle could certainly make it part ways there. The area, just like the rest of Kulen, is quite stunning with the journey that has a slight incline up to the site offering some nice views over the rocky valley.

The carvings at the site include

Vishnu in the cosmic dream (Anantashayanam)

Ganesha in Vigna Ganapati form

A group including four guardians and female deity flanked by lions with Vishnu in the cosmic dream surrounded by other characters on one side, and on the other side an ascetic holding a trident flanked by diety in a niche, further flanked by well-worshipers. Also, note the four holes above the carvings.

Located a few meters away is Vishnu on Garuda

In the monolith group on the west, there are several carvings of ascetics added in recent times.

There is another smaller carving site, Dek Pha-eang, located around 450 m to the north although I couldn’t spot that one on the last visit it’s a beautiful area to admire the natural drama of views.

Around 1500 m north of here and accessed from the same road that departs the main road, is Ta Trachiek Veng and further along, Prasat Kon Ko.
